Oxfam International Starts to Develop Blockchain-Based Solution for Supply Chain Industry

BlocRice – a blockchain tracker for Cambodian rice. The software is designed for ensuring security and transparency between farmers growing rice in Cambodia and its Netherlands buyers. The project aims to cover up to 5,000 farms by 2022.

The solution is a great opportunity enhance rice growers’ sustenance and supply chain conditions by using blockchain and smart contracts in 3-way process of exporting Cambodian rice to European countries through rice exporters and retailers.

The transparency and improved automation should give farmers the ability to increase prices and prevent economic risks. BlocRice considers such smart contracts as a tool for improving the negotiation power of minor farmers in international supply chains as well as social and economic empowerment.
