A major Gallery Tretyakov in Moscow initiates a blockchain-based project titled “My Tretyakov” is focused on art patronage.
“My Tretyakov” is created to allow both individuals and companies to make a contribution to the digitization of an artwork from the gallery’s collection by making a donation and becoming an item’s patron.
It uses blockchain to appoint and manage patronages in the system. For now, the amount of required donation is still the question. The application chooses in a random way which e-copy of artwork will be digitized due to a specific patron and assigns the name to the item. This link of the digitized exhibit to the individual’s or company’s name is fixed by blockchain.
This June the first world cryptocurrency art auction took place in British art gallery Dadiani Syndicate. Also, blockchain technology is used worldwide to validate copyright, provenance, authenticity, ownership, and valuation of artworks.
Blockchain is used extensively for art and environmental programs as well as financial, medicine, supply chain, industrial projects all over the globe. Though blockchain is often called a “technology of the future”, it has already gotten implemented and provided its benefits both by small technology startups and large corporations.
